How to use the Pace Converter
Pace Converter converts between running pace and speed (min/km, min/mi, km/h and mph) and between pace and finish time for any distance.
How to use it
- Pace mode (the default): spin the wheels to set a pace or speed. The summary shows it in every unit, and the tables show the finish time at that pace for common race distances.
- Time mode: choose a distance (a standard race, a famous non-standard race, or a custom distance in km, mi, m or ft), then set your finish time to get the pace you need.
- Switching from Time mode back to Pace mode carries the calculated pace over, so you can see what a goal time means at other distances.
How it works
The conversions are exact arithmetic: one mile is 1.609344 km, pace is time divided by distance, and speed is distance divided by time. The distance tables show the time for each distance at the same pace, so they're even-pace splits, not race predictions. A pace you can hold for 5 km is faster than one you can hold for a marathon.
